After graduating from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology, Jim was initially employed with a small remodeling company in his native Chicago where he first developed the construction skill sets of foundation forming, rough framing, roofing, tile setting and finish carpentry. He then moved on to work for several larger companies, specializing in high-end residential construction. As a carpenter/lead carpenter on numerous high-rise condominium projects and complete renovations of multi-story vintage buildings in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, he refined his abilities in construction and finish carpentry.
For twelve years Jim managed his own company, Stanton Carpentry. Although primarily focused on residential remodeling and finish carpentry, his company also worked on commercial projects such as institutional work for North Park University and managing the construction of Allied Post, a multi-studio sound production facility.
Jim’s exceptional customer service, which led to a loyal client base and all projects being initiated by referral, has been one of his best trademarks throughout his career. In addition, Jim is a LEED AP, BPI certified Building Analyst and Building Envelope Professional. Relocating to Southeast Florida with his Architect wife Nicole, Jim is thrilled to be a part of McKenzie Construction.
