Miami Beach Residence

McKENZIE Construction worked with the Founder of design firm Gelpi Projects and FIU School of Architecture, Professor Nick Gelpi to help renovate the exterior of his home.

Our team worked with Gelpi's own proprietary woodcrete material composed of non-native, invasive plant species, Melaleuca trees that fill up much of South Florida's Everglades landscape. He produced the tiles using ground-up, mineralized melaleuca trees cast into lightweight, yet durable wood-concrete (woodcrete) panels.

This midcentury home was then transformed through the wrapping of these woodcrete panels around the exterior with a fresh update to the insulated interior.
