McKenzie was able to provide the Dr. Smood team with a unique build-out process, streamlining the communication between our team, the client, and the designer, to bring this highly conceptualized brand to an open space in Aventura Mall. Founded on the vision of combining good-tasting food with molecular science— Dr. Smood is the "first smart food boutique cafe specializing in health-beneficial organic food and beverage".

With four preexisting locations throughout Miami, Dr. Smood is set to open 7 more cafes in the coming year, including some in New York City. This was their first store within a mall.

Our Design and Construction teams worked closely with international designer Quincoces-dragò & partners to carry over the unique modern design elements found throughout their other existing locations into an island kiosk structure. A custom-made metal floor and the cafe's marquis sign suspended from the mall ceiling four stories above, make this project a unique visual element within the surrounding space.
