The Rubell Museum, formerly known as the Rubell Family Collection, has been located in Miami's Wynwood district since 1993. When the Rubell family was ready to move into a bigger space, they decided to make Allapattah the new home of their extensive art collection. We completed this adaptive re-use project by turning six former industrial buildings into an epic 100,000 square-foot museum campus comprised of 40 galleries, a flexible performance space, an art research library, a bookstore, and a restaurant that opens onto a courtyard. All three divisions of McKenzie had the opportunity to work on this incredible project, working alongside Seldorf-Architects as the Architect of Record, General Contractor, and custom millwork team. The new museum opened its doors during Miami Art Week of 2019, bringing with it more art to our community.
